About the Role

Our instructors are the heart of the Surf Shack experience. You’ll coach guests on flowboarding and bodyboarding, keep sessions safe, and bring positive energy to every ride. This role is guest-facing, active, and fun, but safety and professionalism always come first.

Instructors are cross-trained to also support the Front Desk when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Teach guests how to safely ride the FlowRider
  • Coach beginners and experienced riders with patience and encouragement
  • Personalize instruction based on guest ability and comfort level
  • Enforce safety rules consistently
  • Create a fun, welcoming environment
  • Assist with Front Desk duties when scheduled
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wave, sauna, and hot tub area

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Lifeguard Certification required before first shift
  • Strong communication and teaching ability
  • Comfortable working in a wet, physical environment
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to stay calm and confident under pressure

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for extended periods
  • Working barefoot in the enclosed wave area
  • Assisting guests in and out of the water

  • Clean restrooms, common areas, and staff spaces
  • Empty trash and restock supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness standards throughout the facility
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns
